Oaxaca city is one of the most important tourist places in the country of Mexico. Known for its heavy cultural heritage, renowned cuisine and colorful traditions, Oaxaca has been named a UNESCO world heritage site. The variety of culture and traditions of Oaxaca has created a large traffic of daily tourists in the city, many of them who do not speak or understand the main language of the place, Spanish.

In order to help tourist transit in the city, I have created a series of pictograms and icons that represent the different places located in Oaxaca city and the service they have to offer. These icons and pictograms help to a better approach of communication when the language barrier is present, as images and symbols tend to be of universal understanding.

These icons not only serve their purpose as a visual aid to communicate but also represent Oaxaca’s heritage and identity that helps to make the city stand up to tourists both from outside and inside the country.
