Santa Maria Zacatepec

Santa María Zacatepec is my charming hometown nestled in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Although it may be small in size, it boasts a rich cultural identity that sets it apart from other towns. In this project, I aim to capture and showcase Zacatepec’s vibrant indigenous heritage and traditions through a brand that invites outsiders to explore and appreciate the town's unique character. The name "Zacatepec" has its roots in Nahuatl, an indigenous language of Mexico. It is derived from two components: "zacatl," meaning "grass" or "herb," and "tepetl," which translates to "hill" or "mountain." Thus, "Zacatepec" can be interpreted as "the hill of grass" or "the place where grass grows on the mountain."
